Beavers

Winslow beavers are a busy and vibrant beaver colony forming part of 1st Winslow Scout Group. We meet on a Tuesday evening from 6-7pm and follow the same term dates as Winslow C of E school.

Jon Green is the Beaver Leader and is also Group Scout Leader. He has been Beaver Leader for over 10 years. He is assisted by Simon Bonfield as Assistant Leader and occasional helpers, young leaders and Duke of Edinburgh participants.

The programme is varied including activities in the scout building, trips out to organised events, visits from outside organisations such as the Police, doctors, special learning groups etc.

The intention is for every beaver to attain the bronze Award. We do this by organising the programmes so that the six challenge badges are earned over a one year period. Unless a beaver joins after the age of seven they should earn the six challenge badges and the Bronze Award before they move on to Cubs. More information can be found here.

We try to make the meetings as interesting and challenging as possible and always receive positive feedback from the young people and their parents.

Participation, rather than meeting set standards, is the key approach, and there are a range of badges and challenge awards that Beaver Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements. Click here for more information on Activity Badges.
