1st Winslow Scout Troop consists of Scouts aged 10-14.5 and small units of five to six Scouts called a Patrol, led by a Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader.
Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Throughout the year, Scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid in preparation for camp.
We currently have one Scout Troops here at 1st Winslow that meet on a Friday evening, if you would like to get involved please get in touch!
Rock climbing, potholing, gliding, photography and international experiences are just some of the things they get up to.
Scouts start small but think big, always challenging themselves to do more and be more. Scouts are given the opportunity to work towards a range of Activity & Staged Badges as well as the Chief Scout’s Gold Award – this is the highest award a Scout can earn. Click here for more information on Activity Badges and here for more information on the Chief Scout’s Gold Award.
If your child would like to join 1st Winslow, or you’ve got an interest in helping us out then please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you!
The Scout Group in Winslow has a lot of support, both from the parents and volunteers of the Group, but also from the community. It is for this reason that we also make sure to engage in the local community and do our bit to give back.
We also make sure to engage our Scouts in planning their activities, giving them access to whole range of experiences and skills, guaranteed to help them both now and in the future.
Our Scout Troop values the input of all the Scouts in our section, enabling us to help develop their confidence, but also their ability to listen and learn from those around them. As a uniformed movement, we also offer an opportunity for the Scouts to learn the meaning of Service and dedication, to each other as well as the World Wide Scouting Family.
